Witchcraft is a spiritual pagan practice
with its roots in ancient civilisations. The Tradition known as
Wicca is relatively new and encompasses the practise of witchcraft
around a framework of seasonal and lunar festivals that encourage an
understanding of our connection in the great mystery of life.

Suzanne Corbie this course is primarily for people wishing to study the basics of witchcraft who do not wish or are unable to join a coven at this stage. It also offers the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and gain knowledge of subjects such as magic and ritual, which could either prepare you for life as a witch or enhance your life with magical and spiritual practices. Suitable for newcomers and those who have already had some experience, this course will give sound guidance for the solitary practitioner or group orientated witch. For all those who wish to get in touch with their own inner ‘magic’ and personal power! |

Witchcraft Course page
Merry Meet to the Witchcraft page of
the College of Esoteric Studies!
This page is dedicated to students of
the Esoteric Witchcraft Course and anyone interested in undertaking
the course or witchcraft in general.
A correspondence course cannot hope to
impart the same degree of knowledge as one to one teaching, but I am
aware that there are many people who either wish to work solitary or
have not found a group to work with. There are also those of you who
would just like to know more about it all, before deciding whether
this is really the path for you and this course aims to fill that
need.
I was part of an Alexandrian coven for
over 20 years and have since worked with many different kinds of
Wiccan traditions and druids, whose traditions closely resemble
Wicca. This course does not promote any particular tradition but
rather encompasses what I have learnt into a form that anyone from
any different tradition could work with.
Part One of the course is an
introduction to Witchcraft and covers subjects such as how to
connect with the God and the Goddess, how to create sacred space,
all about the elements, the Sabbats, opening and closing rituals,
how to create your own ritual, moon magic, a witch’s tools and
correspondences. Learning about witchcraft is a lifelong process and
I wouldn’t dream of suggesting that this is all you would need to
know about it – but every journey starts with the first step and
here is a beginning should you wish to take it!
Part Two covers more detailed subjects
such as Wiccan ethics, spells, talismans, amulets, symbolism,
Kabalah, psychic and spiritual work and will lead to a rite of
dedication should you wish. For details of my one day workshops on
the course material click here.
Student or not, if you would like to
contribute – please do send in your poems, prayers, spells and tips.
If you’ve just found a great book/incense/shop – let me know and
I’ll include it on the site. Don’t forget - if you have any queries
on witchcraft, whether you are a student or not, please email me on
witchcraft@esoteric-e.co.uk and I will do my best to answer them
as soon as possible.

Cakes and
Ale for the Pagan Soul
– Spells, recipes and reflections from Neopagan elders and
teachers – edited by Patricia Telesco, published by Crossing
Press ISBN 1-58091-164-1
This is a
wonderful collection of stories and anecdotes that describe
what the reality of a spiritual pagan path is all about.
These are real people making real magic; some of it is
amusing, much of it is insightful – all of it is moving. I
particularly loved sharing the moments of insight gleaned
from the different experiences from fellow travellers along
the pagan path; insights such as learning that poverty of
the spirit was much worse than lack of money, choosing
quality over quantity, finding wisdom in unusual places and
people and finding yourself when you least expect it. I
found it inspiring to read the stories, some of them made me
smile as I understood the sentiment so well and others made
me smile with admiration. Those of us who have travelled the
path some years will find much to appreciate in this book
and those of you who are new to the path will find much to
be inspired by.

My daughter is
sixteen and would like to study the correspondence course – is
it suitable for her?
Witch
Answer
Absolutely,
providing you are in agreement with her studying it. In
particular, part one is an introduction to the subject and will
enable her to understand the basic concepts of witchcraft
without leading her into the subject too deeply at this stage of
her learning. It is refreshing to see a parent encourage
learning in such a subject that has so much prejudice and
superstition surrounding it and I am sure she benefits
enormously from such an open minded attitude on your part,
whatever she studies.

Witch
Inspiration
(Thanks
to
www.akashanpathways.com )
One Night
I had a wondrous dream
I dreamed
I was walking along the beach with the Goddess
And on
the shore were Her footprints and nothing more
Then
suddenly prints I did see
I asked
the Goddess ‘What kind are these? These aren’t my knees, these
aren’t my hands, these aren’t my footprints in the sand!’
‘My
child,’ she said, in sombre tones
‘For
miles I carried you alone. I challenged you to walk in faith, but
you refused and made me wait.
You would
not learn, you would not grow
The walk
of faith, you would not know,
So I got
tired, I got fed up
And there
I dropped you on your butt
Because
in life there comes a time
When one
must fight and one must climb,
When one
must rise and take a stand
Or leave
their butt prints in the sand’.
